I have been enjoying Hi-Country meat snacks since the mid 1980s when the meat strips had holes in the end due to having been hung on a wire/line during the smoking process (by the way, I know you had to change your production processes to be more efficient, but although the meat snacks are still good, I don't know that anything even touches those earlier jerky.. Just saying. 😬).
Anyway, Even though I moved out of state in the late 90s, I still order meat snacks fairly often.. And have enjoyed the salamis and sausage sticks and hockey pucks and various types of jerky, etc. However, I have to say for the first time ever, I've been disappointed with a Hi-Country product. I bought the western inspired sausage sticks in teriyaki flavor (5 oz) as part of a large bundle I bought for the holidays. Everything else was great but the teriyaki sausage sticks were just short of inedible. The teriyaki flavor was incredibly subtle, borderline non-existent... The flavor I did pick up was almost a bad or rancid tallow taste. I'm hoping this was just a one-off bad batch but it was unpleasant enough that I probably won't experiment with it and order it again.
I do want to reiterate that everything else tasted great and was fantastic. So again... Hoping this was just a " funky batch".
